Types and levels of production
Production is making goods and providing services to satisfy people’s wants. CSEC sorts it two ways: by the type of work done (extractive, construction, manufacturing, service) and by who the output is for (from the family’s own use to export).
By the end of this page you can
- Classify an industry as extractive, construction, manufacturing or service
- Tell subsistence, domestic, surplus and export production apart
- Follow a product through each type of production
- Define primary, secondary and tertiary production
- Give Caribbean examples of each type and level
Goals tick themselves off as you try the activities below.
