Managing personal income: saving and investing

Managing your income means planning how it is spent, saved and invested. A budget is a plan for systematic saving and spending: income on one side, commitments and spending on the other. Paper 1 asks what a budget is, and what a shareholder receives (dividends), almost every year.

By the end of this page you can

  • Explain what a personal budget is and what goes in it
  • Tell saving from investing
  • Name forms of saving and of investment
  • Say what a shareholder receives and why shares carry risk

Goals tick themselves off as you try the activities below.
