From algorithm to program

A program is an algorithm written in a programming language the computer can translate. CSEC uses Pascal. Every variable is declared with a data type before it is used, such as VAR price : real;. Paper 1 asks which type suits a class average: real, because averages have decimals.

By the end of this page you can

  • Choose the right data type for a variable
  • Write assignment, input and output statements
  • Name the parts of a Pascal program
  • Translate a short algorithm into Pascal

Goals tick themselves off as you try the activities below.
