Remember
- The short hand points to the hour. The long hand points to the minutes.
- Each number on the clock is 5 minutes for the long hand: 1 is five past, 2 is ten past, 6 is half past.
- After half past we count to the next hour: 8:45 is quarter to nine.
- The 24-hour clock keeps counting after noon: 1:00 p.m. is 13:00, 3:45 p.m. is 15:45. Take 12 away to go back.
